A careful restoration of the last two
years has brought new splendour Villa Regina
Margherita, turning it into a cultural
centre of excellence.
Built between 1914 and 1916 at the behest of
Queen Margherita of Savoy, here she spent
the winter season, the Villa was opened to
the public on June 19, 2011, and hosts
inside permanently over 1000 pieces from the
collection Terruzzi, one of the most
important and renowned in Europe.
Paintings, including the bottom plates of
gold, from 300 and 400, Italian and foreign
still lifes from 1500 and 1800, paintings of
the '600 and '700 of various Italian schools,
in particular Ligurian, Neapolitan and
Emiliana, prestigious period furniture,
works of decorative art, oriental porcelain
and the whole, extraordinary, "Servizio Minghetti", in an exhibition that recreates
the charm of an historic residence.
A modern restoration Centre, a library open
to the public, halls for temporary events
will complete the offer of this exceptional
site. |

Mondays from 8.30 to 13.00 and from 13.30 to
16.45 hours, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
from 9.00 to 13.00. Friday, Saturday and
Sunday closed. Ticket for 2.00. |

The building, in
the English style, was built in 1888 by
Clarence Bicknell, botanist and
archaeologist, on the designs of architect
Clarence Tait. Inside there is a reading
room transformed into auditorium. The
environment is where the harvest of fellow
Bicknell could meet and cultivate their
studies. In the great hall were held
lectures, concerts, exhibitions and meetings
and was filled soon botanical collections,
mineralogical, wildlife and a first core
library. The Museum of Bordighera Bicknell
did a live, multi-cultural and 'still
original site of the International Institute
of Ligurian Studies. The Library intends to
maintain the spirit of Bicknell trying to
promote the dissemination of culture through
the loan volumes in various languages that
are stored there, promote the study of
history, geography, the dialect, natural
history, the art of prehistory and of
anthropology. The aim is also to maintain
the museum and enhance its collections, to
publish maps, books and other literature
concerning the region and finally to
organize conferences, concerts, exhibitions,
excursions. |

In
Vallecrosia, only 3 kilometers from
Bordighera, a unique museum, built
heavily from that great character
that was Erio Tripodi, restaurateur
and singer. It was inaugurated in
1988 by Luciano Pavarotti, honorary
president. The museum is inside an
old train, restored. An incredible
charm of a direct call from echoes
of moments and experiences evoked by
thousands of printed scores,
attendance artistic images, and
photos. This is also a center
studies with a library, disco and
lounge for meetings and conferences.
